With aging populations, there is growing pressure to move healthcare out of monitored hospital beds and preferably to the home. This can be achieved with wireless monitors which can be worn by the patient while non-invasively monitoring vital signs such as respiration, oxygen in the blood, temperature and ECG.
ST+D have developed a flexible Wireless Vital Signs Platform which can be customised to provide various monitoring products. The elements provided include :
- Long battery life, miniaturised short range body-worn wireless monitor.
- On board intelligence to monitor for and trigger on medical events eg arrhythmias.
- Matching belt-worn device using cellular links to send data immediately to the clinician.
- Non irritant, easy to apply patch electrodes for high quality collection of the vital signs.
- Ability to check that the correct subject is being monitored.
