ST+D has developed a bio-sensing device which measures human iso-potential signals and derives a unique bio-measurement from those electrical signals. This has the potential to uniquely identify the user of any piece of equipment.Click here for a datasheet.
In one specific application, ST+D has designed a reusable person-locating device which is worn on the wrist, identifies the wearer, is capable of locating the wearer through GPS (global positioning system) and communicates their position and status using GPRS communication.
Uses for this type of device include monitoring the whereabouts of a person and for the tracking of military personnel or prisoners.
The biometric sensing system developed by ST+D takes electrical signal measurements from the human body and, using a complex mathematical transformation, provides a unique identifier or bio-fingerprint for the wearer. This is used to verify that the designated person is wearing the device.
One of the many uses of this biometric technology is to ensure that the correct subject is being monitored. This is especially useful in home monitoring where incentives are offered for certain behaviours.
This technology is available to be licensed to OEMs for many applications. |
